Youthies is a singing group for children aged 4-7 years based at St. Nicholas Church, Warwick. They are delighted to have received support from The King Henry Endowed Trust of £4,000 towards the launch of this group. The group meets on Wednesdays from 4.30 p.m. to 5.20 p.m. They provide an introduction to music learning through fun songs and games. Children learn rhythm work, solfege and how to use their voices safely. The social element of shared music making is also important with everyone getting the opportunity to share their ideas and creativity. Youthies members are included in concerts and events alongside the other choirs in the Warwickshire Youth Choirs family. This term they sang in their Spring Concert, a workshop launching their Lottery-funded project ‘Sing Together’ and will next week sing Zimbe! with Village Voices.
They have several members moving up to WYC Junior choir this summer, so they are looking for new members aged 3-5 who love to sing and dance and want to learn more music with friends. There are proven benefits of music education, and singing together in a group particularly: improved mental and physical health, focus, cognition and learning outcomes.
