Laura Dalton of Blooming Lotus wishes to thank The King Henry VIII Endowed Trust so much for providing her with a grant of £100 to enable her to hold her first Community Talk raising awareness of a subject close to her heart. The topic was “Supporting a young person through loss”.
Often child bereavement services focus on supporting a family following a death. Her aim is that all people that encounter a grieving young person already have the understanding, skills & tools available to better support a child following the death of a parent(s) or sibling which is such a critical time. Her passion is driven by the knowledge of the long-term effects on a young person not being supported by those around them, extended family, the school community & friends of the family. As a result of a lack of support & understanding adults bereaved as children can often develop unhealthy coping mechanisms, insecure attachment and feelings of loneliness. We can all support a child we love & care about to better navigate a traumatic experience.
